The 9th Chancery Court District of MS (Humphreys and Sunflower Counties) seeks a certified Court Reporter (for the State of Mississippi) to attend court hearings; to record proceedings in court hearings using either stenotype or voice writing reporting methods; to accurately transcribe the record of court proceedings and deliver certified transcripts in a timely fashion pursuant to applicable rules; to read aloud, as circumstances require, statements made by participants during court proceedings; to ensure that evidence has been properly introduced and marked as an exhibit; to maintain files, notes, tapes, and records to facilitate later reference and use; to respond to inquiries from court personnel, and attorneys; and to complete travel reimbursement form and submit said forms to the Administrative Office of the Courts in a timely fashion.

Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to maintain a complete and accurate record of all the Court’s proceedings. Employees in this classification perform professional, skilled level work. Position is responsible for making verbatim records and producing certified written transcripts.
