The 14th Judicial District Court in Lake Charles, Louisiana is now accepting applications for a Certified Court Reporter to fulfill a roving reporter position. The position is for a full-time employee with full salary plus benefits package: retirement, insurance, vacation, sick leave, etc. Courts covered will be a mixture of Civil, Criminal, and from time to time some Domestic and Family court proceedings. The reporter will be required to take down and transcribe, as requested, verbatim records of judicial trials, conferences, hearings, or any other court proceedings as designated by the judge and may be held in open court, in chambers, and/or via Zoom. The new reporter will step into an already set yearly schedule with specific “typing weeks” designated to allow for ample time out of the courtroom to complete all transcript requests in a timely manner. 19th JDC Court Reporter in East Baton Rouge
To perform highly responsible duties of recording and transcribing verbatim records of judicial trials, conferences, hearings or any other court proceedings where a record is required. Fully responsible for the preparation of a complete and accurate record of proceedings which may involve highly technical terminology used in a number of different fields. Notes are taken at a very high rate of speed, manually or through the use of stenotype machines, stenomask systems, or other computerized methods. Work is performed in accordance with procedures established by the Court and is reviewed by the reporter upon completion for accuracy and content. Work is performed under the direction of the Court Reporter Coordinator, and performance is evaluated on the basis of feedback from individuals served, coworkers, and from direct observation.
