Court Reporter Positions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Ninth Judicial District Court for Rapides Parish is accepting applications for full time Court Reporter positions.<\/p>\n

Court Reporters are responsible for creating and maintaining an accurate verbatim record of court proceedings and preparing transcripts as required by the Court and applicable law.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Attend court proceedings and create an accurate verbatim record using approved court reporting equipment and methods.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prepare, certify, and timely file transcripts as required.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Maintain court reporting recordings, files, notes, and other records in accordance with applicable requirements.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Operate and maintain digital court reporting equipment and related software.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Coordinate with judges, court staff, attorneys, the Clerk of Court, and other justice system partners as necessary.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling court proceedings and sensitive information.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Perform other court reporting duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prior court reporting experience, Louisiana Certified Digital Reporter certification, or other applicable court reporting certification is preferred but not required.<\/p>\n

Applicants without current certification may be considered. Selected applicants will be required to complete the training and certification requirements necessary to serve as a Certified Digital Reporter in Louisiana.<\/p>\n

Applicants should possess strong attention to detail, organizational and computer skills, professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently while meeting court schedules and transcript deadlines.<\/p>\n

Salary: $59,600 per year<\/strong><\/p>\n

Position Summary<\/span><\/p>\n

The 16th Judicial District Court is seeking a full-time Official Court Reporter to provide accurate, verbatim records of District Court proceedings and prepare official transcripts as requested by the Court.<\/p>\n

The Court Reporter will record proceedings held in the courtroom and chambers, maintain official court records, prepare and certify transcripts, and ensure all reporting duties are completed accurately and within required deadlines.<\/p>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/span><\/p>\n

Serve as a full-time Official Court Reporter for the District Court.<\/p>\n

Create accurate, verbatim records of courtroom and chambers proceedings.<\/p>\n

Prepare, review, and certify official transcripts as requested by the Court.<\/p>\n

Research citations, names, terminology, and other information as needed to ensure transcript accuracy.<\/p>\n

Operate and maintain court reporting and transcription equipment.<\/p>\n

Maintain records and indexes of court proceedings.<\/p>\n

Complete transcription assignments within established deadlines.<\/p>\n

Communicate professionally with judges, attorneys, litigants, court personnel, and members of the public.<\/p>\n

Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and impartiality at all times.<\/p>\n

Work extended hours when required by court proceedings and deadlines.<\/p>\n

Minimum Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n

High school diploma or G.E.D. required.<\/p>\n

Must be licensed and in good standing with the Louisiana Board of Certified Shorthand Reporters.<\/p>\n

Must reside in or near the 16th Judicial District.<\/p>\n

Ability to accurately record court proceedings and prepare professional transcripts.<\/p>\n

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.<\/p>\n

Reliable attendance and the ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality are required.<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n

Previous courtroom or court reporting experience is preferred.<\/p>\n

Proficiency in stenotype or stenomask court reporting methods is preferred.<\/p>\n
