This position involves civil, criminal, domestic, juvenile and family court proceedings.

Some travel is required as court is scheduled in all three parishes on a monthly basis.

Certified Court Reporter – Division E

Full-Time

16th Judicial District Court

New Iberia, Louisiana

Salary: $59,600 per year

Position Summary

The 16th Judicial District Court is seeking a full-time Official Court Reporter to provide accurate, verbatim records of District Court proceedings and prepare official transcripts as requested by the Court.

The Court Reporter will record proceedings held in the courtroom and chambers, maintain official court records, prepare and certify transcripts, and ensure all reporting duties are completed accurately and within required deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a full-time Official Court Reporter for the District Court.

Create accurate, verbatim records of courtroom and chambers proceedings.

Prepare, review, and certify official transcripts as requested by the Court.

Research citations, names, terminology, and other information as needed to ensure transcript accuracy.

Operate and maintain court reporting and transcription equipment.

Maintain records and indexes of court proceedings.

Complete transcription assignments within established deadlines.

Communicate professionally with judges, attorneys, litigants, court personnel, and members of the public.

Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and impartiality at all times.

Work extended hours when required by court proceedings and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

Must be licensed and in good standing with the Louisiana Board of Certified Shorthand Reporters.

Must reside in or near the 16th Judicial District.

Ability to accurately record court proceedings and prepare professional transcripts.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Reliable attendance and the ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous courtroom or court reporting experience is preferred.

Proficiency in stenotype or stenomask court reporting methods is preferred.
